I advise and represent clients with issues in real estate, estate planning, probate, business, and family law. I enjoy the intellectual and often competitive process of solving problems and achieving the goals my clients desire. I am also a trained mediator, and I have mediated disputes involving business, contracts and relationships. I currently serve as a supplemental court commissioner in Door County. I know how hard people work for their money, and I know they want results when they seek my advice. I believe that hard work, diligence and education lead to success. I have always worked as hard as possible for my clients. As their attorney, I examine their problems, educate them about how the law affects them, and work with them to develop a strategy that leads to the outcome they seek. (And the fact is: I like to win.) I graduated from the University of Colorado in 1969, and from the Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1972. I worked through both undergraduate and law school in a variety of jobs. As an undergraduate, I worked in construction, meat-packing, and loading trucks; in law school, I worked as a clerk for some of the largest and oldest law firms in Boston and also for the City of Boston. I helped to organize and have served continuously on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Door County, Inc. I am a member of the American Bar Association, the Door/Kewaunee Bar Association, the Sturgeon Bay Rotary Club, the Adventure Cycling Association, the Bike Federation of Wisconsin, and the League of American Bicyclists.
Stephen Kase My primary practice areas include business and corporate organization, debt management, trust and estate planning, real estate, and non-profit charitable organizations. I have a diverse professional background that allows me to assist businesses and individuals in meeting the complex challenges of business and finance. I am able to meet the individual needs of my clients, using the knowledge and wide range of experience I have gathered over many years in the financial world. I am strongly committed to helping others. At a professional level, I assist non-profit and charitable activities to get started and become successful. On a personal level, I am active in Habitat for Humanity, Legal Aid Society and Rotary International. Over the years, I have been closely involved with numerous other community service organizations such as the Door County Volunteer Center, United Way, “Bootstrap” Scholarship Fund, and Crossroads at Big Creek. I received my undergraduate degree from Duke University in 1969 and my law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1976. I served in the US Navy in Vietnam and retired in 1992 with twenty-two years active and reserve years of service. After more than thirty years in Sturgeon Bay, including 27 years as General Counsel for Baylake Bank, I re-entered private practice in 2007.
